We held our first event, X-Genesis,exclusively for the first year students of the Department of Commerce and the Department of Business Administration. The event aimed at giving the new students a platform to assess their skill and display their talent. The word 'Genesis' literally means 'mode of formation' or 'origin' and the event seeks to form a basis for all business situations which the students might face in the future. The tagline being “Imagine.Create.Effectuate.” the event aimed at initiating the aspiring corporates into a world of cutthroat competition and giving them an opportunity to discover their abilities. Comprising events in the field of Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and Public Relations, it gave them an insight into the corporate world, helping in their overall development. We saw the first year students of our college weather the storm of the dynamic corporate world and come out altogether more knowledgeable. X-Genesis was a great success and it received overwhelming praise from not only the students of the college but also the faculty members.
X-Confero is a product of the belief of XMS to move out of our comfort zones and keep on questioning the need of moving ahead. It is due to this belief, that we have taken a leap of faith towards providing the city’s young minds to argument upon their beliefs, thereby creating a convergence point of intellectualism and pragmatism based on reasoning. XConfero’15 witnessed the participation of students from St. Xavier’s and other colleges compete in many gruelling rounds in order to reach the finals throughout the week, where they were judged by city’s top intellectuals and had to face the questions put forward by the judges and won laurels for themselves accompanied by attractive cash prizes. XConfero’15 was a resounding success and we hope to come back next year with a bigger, better and an even more enriching experience.
X-Talk aims at enlightening the minds of the students through some very relevant yet compelling discussions and conversations. Not only is the dialogue engaging in itself, but also the event has seen the likes of some eminent personalities like our former President, H.E. Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, the Sherriff of Kolkata, Dr. Utpal Chatterjee. This year the main speaker for this event was Dr. Pawan Agrawal, CEO of the Dabbawalas. He not only enthralled with his stories of the functionings of the dabbawalas but also motivated one and all to break all barriers and achieve their goals. The synergy of these personalities as well as the well crafted format of the debate/discussion help in making X-Talk one of the most sought after events of the city.
XMC-A two-day extravaganza, Xavier’s Management Convention 2016 is a conscious effort to promote practical application of theoretical knowledge garnered in a classroom. It gives students a chance to showcase their skills and expertise to the best of their abilities in a corporate setting. This year we tried to establish that adapting might be difficult but not changing might just be fatal which was reflected in the theme, Chrysalis- Only the resilient will prevail. The event was also marked by two speaker sessions, by Mr. Sorabh Pant, of the East India Comedy fame and Mr. Neel Ghose, Vice President of international operations in Zomato. It was a truly memorable event and will be back the next year, bigger and better!
